Natural Edged Maple Burl Shallow Bowl/Platter

This highly figured piece of maple burl has been turned to a shallow bowl/ platter form.  Some people see the natural edged outer rim as representing a fish outline.  Others see another fish shape in the figure at the bottom of the bowl.

Spalted Maple Burl Plate

This very special piece of Western big leaf maple has both burl and tiger figure as well as spalting.  It has been turned to a plate shape and a small area of the rim has been left natural.  Finish is Danish oil and is food safe.

Ambrosia Maple Salad Bowl

Ambrosia Maple Salad Bowl

Ambrosia maple gets it’s name from the ambrosia beetle that attacks the tree once it has been cut down.  The beetle introduces a fungus which results in black stripes throughout the wood.  In this bowl, the beetle holes have been left natural (not filled).  Food safe Danish oil finish.
