Julian is graced with being a very skillful person – able to build anything from anything. (Metals, carbon composites, glass composites, wood and stone). Born in Cheltenham, England and educated and apprenticed there as a professional manufacturing engineer – has enabled and enhanced these abilities. Julian left Britain at 21 years of age and has enjoyed a successful career in the glamour aerospace industry, traveling extensively and living in Japan for 5 years and now in Washington, USA for 32 years.
Landscape creation is now Julian’s line of business. He is absorbed in Landscape Architecture and Natural Resource Sciences. Woodturning has become a totally consuming hobby and one he is passionate about. He originally trained with Richard Raffan, and has since observed, and had classes with, a number of other world renowned woodturners. Julian is a Past President of Northwest Washington Woodturners and continues to be actively involved as videographer.
About 12 years ago Julian carved out, from the rock on South Fidalgo Island, his little piece of heaven, where he lives with his best friend and wife of 41 years – Jean, and Mocha our Siamese cat.
