George Way - Woodturner Artist

George Way is a part-time woodturner living in Anacortes, Washington.  He has been turning wood for six years and considers woodturning more of an obsession than a hobby.  George is a retired high school Business and Video Production teacher.  He finds his relaxation producing works of art out of wood that more than likely would have ended up in a fireplace.

George worked with wood in various forms before he bought his first lathe.  His woodturning has allowed him to go from a practical construction oriented use of wood to a more free form artistic use of wood.  George is active in the Northwest Washington Woodturners guild and is a member of the American Association of Woodturners.  He was the “Woodturner of the Month” in the February 2008 Northwest Washington Woodurners newsletter.  George displays and sells his wood turned art in various galleries in the local area.
