Art Learmonth

Art 1615 Head_portrait

A native from New Hampshire, Art Learmonth has worked throughout his career as a manufacturing executive.  He retired to Anacortes, Washington in 2006 with his wife, Diane and now splits his time between summers in Alaska and working in his home shop for the rest of the year.

Art has been woodworking for nearly 40 years and turning since 1995.  He starts the turning process by finding exceptionally figured pieces of wood.  He then rough turns the bowl or vessel and lets it dry for up to 18 months before final turning and finishing.

Art also builds and sells on commission northwest style contemporary furniture also utilizing highly figured wood.  Since each piece is truly one of a kind, he prefers to develop the specific design with the customer before starting the building process.  Art has photos of his previous works for reference if needed.

Art is a member of the Northwest Washington Woodturners, the American Association of Woodturners and the Northwest Corner Woodworking Association.
